KITTERY — State Police are warning motorists that they’re in for major delays for the next couple of hours after a tractor trailer jack-knifed and blocked two of three lanes of traffic at mile marker 1.

The accident occurred in the southbound lane at 6 a.m. The driver was taken to the hospital in Portsmouth with minor injuries, according to police spokesman Steve McCausland.

At 8:19 he said there was already a major backup of cars on the turnpike.
