FARMINGTON — Attending a banquet preceding the March meeting of Farmington Emblem Club 460 were the winners of a drug awareness essay contest sponsored by the club. Guests also included their families

First through fourth place went to Jasmine Worster, Brittany Robinson, Ian and Matthew McLaughlin. These students are in the fifth-grade class at North New Portland Elementary School.

Each essay was written about their experiences at a recent visit to the Franklin County Jail. The students introduced their families to club members and each read their essay to the group.

Drug awareness chairwoman, Avis Mahoney, gave out awards to the winners.

A cake congratulating the children was served for dessert.
