PORTLAND — Brandon Libby, who has connections to Auburn, is among six recipients of the 2003 Teens Who Care Award sponsored by television stations WLBZ and WCSH.
Libby will be honored during an awards program on April 7 at the Portland Museum of Art. Gov. John Baldacci will be the keynote speaker.
Libby is the son of Bob and Wendy Libby, who are 1973 graduates of Edward Little High School. Grandparents are Arnold and Janice M. Leavitt of Auburn and Joan Libby and the late Richard Libby of Auburn.
A junior at Brewer High School, Libby is also an Aspiration Student at the University of Maine in Orono where he is enrolled in chemistry and pre-calculus. He received an emergency medical technician’s license in June 2002 and has been volunteering on the Orrington Ambulance Squad, the University of Maine Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Orrington Fire and Rescue where he is also a junior volunteer firefighter.
Libby is a teacher assistant for the basic EMT class given at Eastern Maine Technical College. He has totaled more than 1,000 volunteer hours since July 2002. Libby is a member of the student council, a class representative and a
Libby will attend the University of Maine in Orono in the fall as an early enrollment student where he was accepted into the honors program. He will major in biology in the pre-med program.
