LEWISTON — The Woman’s Hospital Association of Central Maine Medical Center will feature the work of Jo Flewelling during the art exhibit for April.

Flewelling, a resident of Sabattus, has been working since 1998 as a wildlife artist and is now hoping to be recognized as one of the leading artists in her field. Her true love is painting.

She has begun painting portraits of old houses and farms, when commissioned, using small, sometimes old and torn, photographs. He works include portraits of pets, houses, landscapes, wildlife, birds and mammals.

She has also begun moving into wall murals and trompe l’oeil effects. In the near future, she hopes to become proficient in airbrush painting.

In addition to the display at CMMC, her work may be seen at Jo’s Creations, 48 Bowdoinham Road, Sabattus.

The exhibit may be viewed in the main corridor of Central Maine Medical Center throughout April. Information on purchasing the items on exhibit is available at the Gift Shop.

The association supports Central Maine Medical Center by promoting the health and welfare of the community and by raising money to fund special projects. If interested in membership or the monthly artist showings, call 795-2295.
