LIVERMORE FALLS — Terry Berry, Franklin County nutrition aide, was the guest recently of the East Livermore-Moose Hill Extension for its annual birthday party Feb. 27 at the home of Cora Briggs. All birthday gifts went to Berry for her work in “Eat Well,” a Maine family nutrition program.

Berry told about work in that program which used to be known as the Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program.

Among her duties are visiting monthly with the Friends Together Social Club in Jay for cooking demonstrations and lessons on safety and a monthly taste testing, nutrition and safety lesson at 166 Park St. in Livermore Falls.

She also visiting with a parenting class and at the food cupboard, both held at Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church, where she has recipes for and taste testing of dishes using the donated commodities.

Her work also takes her to the Leeds and Turner area and, in all, she visits four food cupboards, works with 4-H, does the Eat Well newsletter and a Learn by Mail ten-lesson series which is open to anyone.

She distributed copies of an updated book on Microwaving for one or two and the group will soon be working with convenience mixes.

Chairwoman Gloria Jacques led the meeting with vice chairwoman Joyce Richard reading the creed. It was announced that the state spring meeting will be May 8 and 9 at John Martin Manor in Waterville. The group will assist in making centerpieces for the meeting, based on the theme of State President Shirley Dennison of Machias “Blueberries, Your Life Saver.”

The birthday cake was served by Miriam Buchanan, assisted by Hilda Corkum and the hostess.
