HARTFORD, Conn. — Junior attackman James Skiff stroked eight goals and three assists to lead Trinity to an 18-13 win over Colby in NESCAC men’s lacrosse action Saturday.

The Bantams (4-4) controlled the game early, netting five consecutive goals in the final 10 minutes of the first quarter after spotting the White Mules (1-5) the opening goal.

After Skiff fed Ravi Pillay to improve the Bantams’ margin to 7-4 early in the second frame, the White Mules kicked off four unanswered goals to close the first half with their only lead of the contest, 8-7. The Bantams went on a tear in the third, however, scoring seven goals.

Senior Trenholm Boggs and juniors Ryan Glennon and Josh Cleaver each tallied a hat trick for the White Mules, while goalie Matt LaPaglia made 15 saves.

Wesleyan 9, Bowdoin 8

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Sophomore Sam Fleischner fired a low bouncer into the net 3:18 into overtime to notch a 9-8 Wesleyan win over Bowdoin.

Wesleyan (6-3) jumped out to a 4-1 first quarter lead on three extra-man situations. Bowdoin bounced back in the second quarter with three late goals to slide into intermission with a 5-5 tie.

The Polar Bears (3-5) took a short-lived 7-6 lead in the third period on a goal by Kyle Courtiss, but Wesleyan rallied back with a pair of goals before the close of the third frame. Bowdoin’s Ted Scholhamer evened the contest at 8 in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, and the teams played scoreless for the next 14 minutes of regulation.

Women’s lacrosse

Connecticut 16, Bates 8

NEW LONDON, Conn. — Emily Stieff packaged three goals and two assists to lead Connecticut College to a 16-8 victory over Bates in NESCAC women’s lacrosse action Saturday.

The Camels (2-5) roared to a 6-1 lead and led 9-2 at the break. Caley Boyd netted back-to-back goals only 21 seconds apart midway through the second half.

Junior Becky Castle netted two goals and provided a pair of assists to lead the Bobcats (6-3). Samala Khalique chipped in a goal and assist, while Liz McNamara made 15 stops.
