MEXICO – The annual meeting of the Farrington Morton Cemetery Association will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the Mexico Congregational Church. Election of officers and other pertinent business will be on the agenda. If you or a member of your family own a lot in this cemetery, you are a member of the association and welcome to attend.

St. Timothy

RUMFORD – St. Timothy Circle Daughters of Isabella will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, in the upper room of the Parish Center. Rosary will be said following the regular business meeting. Refreshment committee will be Pat Gautreau, Pierette Gagnon, Jane Gaisson, Mary Politis and Anita Spydell.

MEXICO – The women of Stephens High School’s Class of 1956 will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the Far East restaurant for a social gathering. For information, people can phone Muriel Shurtleff at 562-7550.

DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Historical Society will host its first spring meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the museum house. The program is Whatchamacallit Night. People are being asked to bring a favorite antique or a mystery item to display. New acquisitions will be shown and refreshments served. The public is invited.

Education fair

NEWRY – The 13th annual Post Secondary Fair will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 10, in the grand ballroom at the Grand Summit Hotel of Sunday River.

Approximately 100 colleges, military recruiters and FAME representatives are expected attend the fair, which is for area high school students. Last year, 14 high schools from Maine and New Hampshire attended the fair. Guidance counselors from the Mountain Valley, Dirigo, Telstar and Region 9 high schools are hosting the fair as part of the Northern Oxford County Area Counselors group.

Gymnasts’ meet

RUMFORD – The Greater Rumford Community Center Gymnastics team will host the YMCA State Gymnastics Championship at Mountain Valley High School April 26 and 27. This is the first time in at least 20 years that the Greater Rumford Community Center has sponsored this event. There will be approximately 45 gymnasts representing the Greater Rumford team and 250 gymnasts representing the state of Maine.
