RINDGE, N.H. – Two Oxford Hills High School graduates earned weekly honors as members of the Franklin Pierce baseball team, the top-ranked Division II club in New England.

Sophomore catcher Eric Cavers of Otisfield, was named Co-Player of the Week for the Northeast-10 Conference, while Tyler Cummings of South Paris, earned Freshman of the Week honors.

Cavers claimed his second career Player of the Week award. During the team’s first week of conference play (3-1), Cavers hit .375 (6-16), scored 6 runs, stroked 3 doubles, knocked in 4 runs, and went 3-3 in stolen base attempts. Cavers went 4-9 with 3 doubles and 4 RBI in the Ravens’ doubleheader sweep of then New England No. 1-ranked Stonehill College Sunday. He also registered 2 of Franklin Pierce’s 6 total hits gainst UMass Lowell and American International College earlier in the week.

He currently ranks third in team history with 24 career stolen bases after matching a program record and establishing the school mark for freshmen with 15 thefts last spring.

Cavers will play for the Keene Swamp Bats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League this summer. He competed for the Manchester, Conn., Silkworms of the NECBL last year.

Cummings earned his first weekly conference honor after his second solid start of the season Sunday. He handcuffed Stonehill batters, allowing just 1 unearned run on 3 hits in the Ravens’ 9-1 victory. He fanned 10 and yielded just 1 walk in the complete game effort and is now 2-1 on the season. He has a 3.00 ERA, with 24 strikeouts and just 3 walks in 18 innings. Opposing batters are hitting a mere. 169.
