NEWRY – Sunday River Ski Resort and the Parrot Head Club of Maine teamed up recently to raise $10,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine.
Funds were raised throughout the weekend’s Parrot Head festivities. Parrot Heads are Jimmy Buffett enthusiasts who are members of a network of clubs that exist across the world. Sunday River donated a portion of its lodging and tickets proceeds from the weekend, which included such events as pond skimming, the 16th annual Bust ‘n’ Burn mogul competition, and Buffett cover bands.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Donna Boudreau of the Maine Parrot Head Club accepted the donation on behalf of the foundation from Sunday River Vice President of Operations Marvin Collins as the recipient of last year’s wish, a young woman from Bethel, looked on. She later recounted to the crowd her trip to the Mall of America in Minnesota with her family.
