LEWISTON – The Lewiston Recreation Department announces that it has teamed up with several community partners to undertake its fourth annual Easter Egg Hunt and Family Fun Day from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Lewiston Memorial Armory, 65 Central Ave.
The event is for preschool children through grade five, and parents/guardians are asked to accompany children. The day is free and will be held rain or shine.
Recreation Director Maggie Chisholm said, “The event is a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to share quality time with children.”
She said children are asked to bring an Easter basket with them for use during the egg hunt and, if they wish, may dress in a simple Easter costume or wear their favorite Easter bonnet.
Partners in the event are the Lewiston Fire Department and Sparky the Dog, the Lewiston Police Department, AmeriCorps, Day Reporting Center and New Beginnings. Other volunteers are students from the Lewiston Regional Technical Center’s Law Enforcement Program led by Col. Maurice Hyde.
Face painting, a bead table, the petting zoo and a moonwalk will get under way at noon followed by a 1:15 p.m. special performance by Sheila Curtis of “Trickster Fox Productions.” The family entertainment features comical juggling, circus acts and audience interaction.
Volunteers of America representatives will also be on hand to provide a Scholastic Book give-away, and the Lewiston Middle School Track Boosters will man a fund-raising concession stand.
