• A window was broken at Dirigo High School early Monday morning, but Tuesday afternoon was too early in the investigation to determine if the incident was a burglary attempt or act of vandalism, said officer Mark Dow.
• An abandoned bicycle left at Dirigo High School for several days, was recovered by Dow Sunday and taken to the police station, where it waits to be claimed.
• An abandoned vehicle located in the woods near Morrison Hill by all-terrain-vehicle riders Sunday had been reported stolen from Rumford the night before, Dow said. David Hodgkins of M/T Pockets recovered the vehicle.
• Luc M. Virgin, 20, of Augusta, was summoned Sunday by officer Jeffrey Howe on a charge of operating without a license after Howe stopped a vehicle being driven erratically at midnight on the Canton Point Road.
• Howe responded to a report of suspicious activity at 9 p.m. Saturday on Fairbanks Avenue and learned from the complainant that two young men had been looking in the windows of a neighbor’s house. They fled when approached. Positive identification of the men is still being sought.
• Howe is also investigating the midnight Saturday theft of approximately $65 in coins from a Weld Street residence.
• An investigation continues into the bold theft of four 30-packs of beer on April 7 at Ellis’ Variety on Weld Street. Dow responded to the 8:30 p.m. incident to learn that two youths walked into the store, selected the beer and walked out. Dow’s investigation “has yielded some good clues, however, anyone having information that might be valuable in closing the case is encouraged to come forward,” he said.
