RUMFORD – Police are investigating two burglaries that netted thieves money and goods.
Last Tuesday, a Falmouth Street resident reported that someone had broken into her apartment the night before and taken a stereo, compact discs, DVDs, cigarettes and cash totaling $176, officer Douglas Maifeld said. The incident occurred between 6 and 9:30 p.m. last Monday.
According to investigating Officer David Bean’s report, the locked apartment door could have been entered by someone using a credit card, Maifeld added.
In the other incident on April 5, someone entered an Erchles Street residence and took a jug containing $45 in change and $15 in change from an ashtray atop the television, Maifeld said.
The burglary occurred between 3 and 3:30 p.m.
That resident and police each suspect that neighborhood children were involved in that break-in.
