The music and theatre programs at Lewiston High School continue to give stellar performances of plays and musicals. This year, the drama club Center Stage Ensemble produced two quality performances.

On the evenings of February 27, 28, and March 1, community audiences saw an outstanding production of the well-known play The Miracle Worker. The set design, costumes, and sound effects lent a feeling of authenticity to this story set in the nineteenth century. The young actors and actresses brought the tale to life, especially the two leads-Alison Traynor who played Helen Keller, and Elizabeth Snyder who played Annie Sullivan. Their performances were exceptional and well appreciated by the audience. Directed by Dick Martin, with the help of stage manager James Daigle and house manager Pam Snyder, The Miracle Worker was truly a memorable production.

April 3-5, the Center Stage Ensemble was busy again with the production of The Wizard of Oz. The show provided laughter and enjoyment for the audience. The young but talented cast was led by Katie Lauze (Dorothy), Nathan White (Scarecrow), James Daigle (Lion), and David Cassidy (Tin Woodman). Directors Richard Martin and Darren Avery called the show a success and look forward to next year’s production of Once on This Island.
