Drama Director, Lewiston Middle School
The Lewiston Middle School Drama Club is having another very busy year, with nearly 90 students participating onstage as actors, or backstage with sound, lights, sets, and props. Every year students tell us that the club helps them learn new things, meet new people, and have fun!
In addition to our usual two annual productions, we produced a special play in early December this year. As part of her work on her thesis, “Drama as a Teaching Tool in the Middle School,” Bates College student Ariana Margolis auditioned, directed, and produced a show at the middle school. The play, Yearbook, fit right in with the everyday life of a middle-school student, and the results of the collaboration between this talented Bates student and the middle-school students brought delight to the audience.
Our winter production was a drama titled Who’s Dying to Be a Millionaire? Students were literally “dying” to be a millionaire. As contestants began dropping, the audience started laughing and never stopped.
Mark May 22 and 23 on your calendars as performance dates for our upcoming spring musical. Gone With The Breeze, which is staged on a movie set, is sure to be a lot of fun!
