In response to Clair Landry’s letter on May 11, I think her husband passed away because it was his time to leave this world not because the doctor told him to stop smoking.
Secondly, us non-smokers are not asking people to stop smoking, but to protect other people’s right not to smell and inhale their smoke. All we ask is that they smoke where it will not endanger other people’s health.
Ms. Landry is free to smoke all she wants, but respect non-smokers’ rights not to smell like an ashtray after they leave the bingo hall.
The halls and restaurants that have gone smoke free have not lost any players or patrons. The smokers are more than glad to respect our rights and go smoke outside on their breaks.
Anyone will agree that is not too much to ask for us non-smokers.
