FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) – Taylor Twellman’s fifth goal of the season was all the offense New England needed as the Revolution beat the Chicago Fire 3-0 on Saturday at Gillette Stadium.
Adin Brown stopped seven shots in goal for the shutout, dropping the Fire to 1-1-3.
Taylor Twellman opened the scoring for New England (3-2-2) in the 18th minute, heading in a rebound of a shot by Joe-Max Moore.
Jay Heaps doubled the Revolution’s lead just after halftime, taking a Joe Franchino corner kick and flicking it past Chicago goalkeeper Zach Thornton in the 49th minute.
Steve Ralston added a goal seven minutes later, when he broke through the left side of the Chicago defense and beat Thornton with a low shot just inside the right post.
