The program will incorporate paintings done in South Africa.

AUBURN – Educator and artist Joyce Perry will present “A South African Journal” at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, at the Auburn Public Library. She will tell of South Africa’s rich ancestry, friendly people and natural beauty.

Perry will share her Peace Corps experiences of living and working in village schools as well as in community development and HIV/AIDS education.

While serving in South Africa, Perry found time to paint a series of watercolors depicting the culture of the tribal people with whom she lived and worked. The watercolors will be central to her story.

Perry is a retired teacher of elementary grades who also taught art in Brunswick and Portland schools. She now resides in Auburn.
