LEWISTON – The Festival de Joie organizers will hold a volunteer meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 150 East Ave.

Everyone is invited as organizers need at least 175 volunteers to guarantee the success of the event.

Plans for the 11th annual festival de Joie include a large parade to be held during Prelude 2003. The parade will start at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, immediately after the opening ceremonies at the new Courthouse Plaza on Lisbon Street.

This year’s parade will go down Lisbon Street to Maine Street and continue down Park Street to Kennedy Park and will include at least 45 units, including floats, antique cars, marching units and the Kora Temple units.

Anyone interested in participating in the parade or the Prelude should contact the festival office at 782-6231. Prelude dates are July 29, featuring a special concert by the Just Us Entertainers, location to be announced, and July 30 to 31 on Lisbon Street. The festival will be held Aug. 1 through 3 at Railroad Park on Oxford Street.
