MONMOUTH – Monmouth Academy and Oak Hill High School in Wales finished as state co-champions at the Maine Future Business Leaders of America State Conference/Competition at the Sheraton Hotel in South Portland.
The competition was part of a two-day professional leadership conference/ competition for members from schools throughout Maine.
“We were really proud of all our chapter members that participated,” said Heather Ruopp, chapter president, “and we are thrilled that we could bring another state title to our community.”

Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc. is a nonprofit student organization that assists young adults to develop business and leadership skills to prepare them for future careers. Rick Amero serves as the Monmonth Academy chapter advisor.
Monmouth Academy junior Cory Shepherd was elected state president at the conference.
Shepherd will serve on the Maine State FBLA Executive Board and represent Maine FBLA at national conferences in Dallas and Baltimore, as well as other regional and state events throughout 2003-04.
His duties will include organizing and leading all state board meetings, presenting workshops, performing chapter installations, organizing the state leadership conferences and chairing the state service project. Shepherd is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Shepherd of North Monmouth.
