LEWISTON – Hillary Collins-Gilpatrick and Marina MacDonald each scored a hat trick Tuesday to help Lewiston scratch out a 12-10 Class A girls’ lacrosse win over Catherine McAuley.

Following an intense first half, the Lions (3-8) scored four unanswered goals in the first few minutes of the second stanza to take a 9-7 lead.

The Blue Devils (5-6) scratched their way back to a 10-9 deficit before rattling off the final three goals.

Mo Wark scored five goals for the Lions, while Kelsey Barney bolstered the Blue Devils with a pair of goals and two assists.

Mt. Ararat 6, Oxford Hills 5

SOUTH PARIS – Erika Gammon converted a relay from Ashley Nesbit for the game-winner with 3:21 left in regulation to lift Mt. Ararat to a 6-5 Eastern Class A win over Oxford Hills.

The Vikings (5-6) scored four unanswered goals to end the first half, but the Eagles (9-2) enjoyed a 6-1 edge after the break.

Jaime Proulx was the only repeat goal-scorer for the Vikings.

Softball

St. Dom’s 12, Waynflete 0

AUBURN – Emily Goss was strong both on the mound and at the plate in leading St. Dom’s to a 12-0 WMC win over Waynflete.

Goss struck out eight batters over the five-inning route. She also belted an RBI double in the second inning and a triple in the fourth.

She ended the day 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

Kat Vincent chipped in two RBIs and a double for the Saints (10-3).

Waynflete (6-7) had three hits in the game, all first-inning singles.

Monmouth 3, Jay 2

JAY – Bekah and Sarah Bubier each plated a run in the seventh inning to propel Monmouth to a 3-2 MVC victory over Jay.

The Tigers (6-6) scored a single run in the second inning, and the game remained a 1-0 contest until the Mustangs (7-4) came to the plate in the seventh.

The first two Mustangs reached base on an error before a passed ball allowed the first Monmouth run.

Bekah Bubier smacked a double for the Mustangs, while Ella Coffren tallied one of her own for the Tigers.

Buckfield 16, Rangeley 0

RANGELEY – Desiree Brackett and Danielle Buswell combined for a no-hitter as Buckfield trounced Rangeley 16-0 in EWC play.

Brackett had nine strikeouts before Buswell relieved her in the fifth inning. Buswell struck out the side in the fifth for the Bucks (10-2).

Shayna Shackford hit a double for Buckfield.

Deering 3, Edward Little 2

AUBURN – Gina Axelson belted an RBI triple in the first inning, and Diane Gildart followed with a run-producing single to lead Deering past Edward Little 3-2 in an SMAA clash.

Edward Little scored single runs in the first, on a bases-loaded walk to Brittany Boisvert, and the fourth on a fielder’s choice.

Deering (9-4) pushed across another run in the fourth.

Jen Verrill allowed only five hits and struck out four in a complete-game effort for the Red Eddies (7-6). Kendra Keene had two hits to lead EL.
