RUMFORD – NO BUTS Tobacco Awareness Training for Retailers was held on May 15.
NO BUTS (Blocking Underage Tobacco Sales) has been established by the Patnership For a Tobacco-Free Maine and the Maine State Attorney General’s Office as part of Maine’s comprehensive tobacco awareness effort to stem the state’s epidemic of underage tobacco use.
Owners or managers of retail stores have a critical role to play in helping reduce the use of tobacco by youths. This NO BUTS training provides owners with the tools to effectively block underage tobacco sales.
Participants in the NO BUTS program receive a free comprehensive step-by-step kit with an employer guide to assist in implementing the NO BUTS program.
For more information about the program, call John Archer at Attorney General’s Tobacco Control Office at 626-8837 or the Healthy Communities Coalition Office at 364-7408.
