LISBON – Coombs-Mountfort Post, American Legion, and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 27. The Legion, Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion will hold installation at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the post. Members are invited.

Robin Dow

AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at the American Legion Hall, Washington Street. At the close of the meeting and a bag lunch, memorial services will be conducted with Lucy Cowles in charge. If time permits, bingo will be played.

The group met May 14 with 81 members present and Audrey Fleming, president, presiding. May birthdays were acknowledged. Roland LaPlante, Ruth Diehl, Marjorie Ward, Eleanor Harris, Jacqueline Daunis and Tony DeBurra were placed on the honorary membership list.

Members were reminded there are still unpaid yearly dues and they should check their status.

Attendance prize winners were Frances Wentworth and Shirley Huntley; pot of gold, Joan Webb, Bernice Parks and Eunice Johnson. Marge Gardner was welcomed as a new member.

Trip chairwoman Evelyn Sawin reported the bus to Foster’s Lobster House, York, would leave at 9 a.m. from the American Legion Hall, Washington Street, June 13.

New support group

AUBURN – A New Divorce Care group is forming. They will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday at the Court Street Baptist Church, 129 Court St. It is a support group for those having experienced the pain of divorce or who are in the process of considering divorce. The group is also of help to family members with loved ones who have been divorced. For more information phone the church office at 784-6661.

Celebrate arts

LEWISTON – Longley School’s “Celebrate the Arts” event will take place from 2:45 to 4 p.m. Monday, June 2, in the Multi-Purpose Center gym. The year-end exhibit of artwork from all Longley students will be on display. The school chorus will entertain the audience. The afternoon will conclude with the presentation of the Longley School Anthology to the published student authors and artists. The anthology is printed by the Sun Journal, a Longley School business partner.

Gets art prize

NORTHFIELD, Mass. – Jessica Barber, daughter of Elizabeth and Frederick Barber of Auburn and a junior at the Northfield Mount Hermon School, received the art prize for excellence in drawing at the school’s underclassmen awards ceremony on May 18.

Bridge hands

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on May 20 at the Multi-Purpose Center. North/South winners in Flight A were: first, Jeanine Kivus and Martine Begert; second, Fred Letourneau and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, David Lock and Lucille Theriault. Flight B winners were Roger Briggs and Lucille Bilodeau.

East/West winners in Flight A were: first, Richard Horne and Nancy Lindgren; second, Mike and Pat Quinn; tied at third, Larry Fortier and Terry Gendron with Mary Leahey and Eleanor Abraham. Flight B winners were Mike and Pat Quinn.

Another game will be held at the center on Tuesday, May 27. A partner is guaranteed.

The club also met on May 21 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Fred Letourneau and Sherry Hinckley; second, Ray Sirois and John Hackett; tied at third, Mary Leahey and Nancy Lindgren with Paul Barber and Luke Merry; fifth, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus. There was a tie for first in Flight B: Mike and Pat Quinn with Roger Briggs and Claire Lyons.
