LEWISTON – This year marked the second anniversary of the Rainbow Federal Credit Union Scholarship Program as the organization presented $500 scholarships to five Rainbow members.

Recipients are:

Todd Chamberlain, a senior at the University of Maine at Farmington majoring in community health.

Ashleigh Hill, a second-year honor student at Johnson and Wales College, Providence, R.I. She will pursue a bachelor’s degree in food service entrepreneurship.

Monica Morin, a sophomore honor student at West Virginia Wesleyan College. She is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in chemistry and looking ahead to a doctoral degree in chemistry with a possibly focus in nuclear science.

Sharon Rawstron, an honor student at Central Maine Technical College. She has been raising a family while attending classes part time. She is in the process of earning an associate degree in clinical laboratory sciences with the ultimate goal of earning a bachelor degree in science.

Deanna St. Onge, an honor student at Clarkson University. She is pursuing a bachelor degree in science followed by a master’s degree in chemistry.

Purpose of the program is to recognize students who have shown excellence in scholastic, extracurricular and community activities and who are interested in advancing their education.

To be eligible the applicant must be a member of Rainbow Federal Credit Union, must have completed one semester or 15 credit hours at a two- or four-year college, university or technical college and must be a student in good standing.

Students interested in pursuing scholarships next year may begin the application process the week of Oct. 13. Applications will be available at all branches and the scholarship recipients will be announced the following March.
