AUBURN – Three Auburn students won scholarships at the 10th annual New England District Oratorical Contest, sponsored by New England Optimist Clubs, in Manchester, N.H.

Joanna Hughes, first-place winner, received a $1,500 scholarship, Colton Jordan won a $1,000 scholarship and Moriah Churchill was the $500 scholarship winner. All three attend Auburn Middle School.

The topic was “United We Stand in Optimism.”

The Lewiston-Auburn Optimist Club sponsors the local contest each year and winners participate in the district competition.
