AUBURN – Eight seniors from area high schools received special recognition from the Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, at the Court Street Baptist Church.
The students were chosen as Good Citizens by their respective schools. The requirements are dependability, leadership, service and patriotism.
All accredited high schools are invited to participate to honor their seniors. They also have a chance to enter for a scholarship. The awards are given annually.
Receiving Good Citizens certificates and pins were Gary Hinkley, Buckfield High School, son of Dennis and Elizabeth Hinkley; Jennifer Chantrill, Edward Little High School, daughter of John and Rosaria Chantrill; Bethany Asquith, Leavitt Area High School, daughter of Kathleen Asquith of Greene; Kristin Jacques, Lewiston High School, daughter of Ronald and Kathlee Jacques.
Receiving patriotism certificates, pins and medals were Lindsay Marston, Buckfield High School, daughter of Allen and Marijo Marston of Canton; Adam Ouellette, Edward Little High School, son of Mark and Nancy Ouellette; Kristen Healy, Leavitt Area High School, daughter of Steve and Renee Healy of Turner; Ethan Chittim, Lewiston High School, son of David Chittim and Penelope Jessop.
Regent Leslie Wight welcomed the guests. Wight and Carol MacNeill, national defense chairwoman , shared in the awards ceremony.
Norma Boothby of the Norlands Living History Center in Livermore was the guest speaker. Refreshments were served by the chapter members.
