NORWAY – Maine Children’s book author Lynn Plourde will be doing a presentation at Guy E. Rowe Elementary School on Friday, May 30. At an opening assembly, the Winthrop author will present an interactive reading of some of her picture books. She will lead students in a dramatization of one of her books with students playing parts using simple props. She will also visit with smaller groups of students. Parents are welcome. BETHEL – The Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce will recognize deserving community servants, a Bethel area business, forest products industry entrepreneur and a few excellent employees who have made extraordinary contributions to their workplaces at the Grand Summit Hotel at Sunday River Ski Resort on Friday, May 30. Church speaker
PARIS – Marilyn Hammond will be the speaker at the 10 a.m. service of the First Universalist Church Sunday, June 1. Her sermon topic will be “Celebrating Flowers and Children.” This will be the annual flower communion service. Each person is to bring a flower or sprig of green, either from their garden, field or roadside to contribute to the “communion vase” as a symbol of his or her individual humanity. In addition, it will be Children’s Recognition Sunday and Jane Wheeler will be presenting Sunday School awards. The service will be followed by brunch in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.
