LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will hear a presentation, “The Search Ends Here,” by Anne Craigs and Heather Banester of the Employment Times at the noon luncheon meeting on Thursday, May 29. The club meets every Thursday at the Ramada Inn. Visitors and guests are welcome.
Teen dance
AUBURN – The YMCA Teen Center will have an end-of-year dance for grades seven to 10 on Friday, May 30. Admission will be $4. Social hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m. and the DJ will play from 7 to 10. Concessions will be available throughout the night.
Center hours are 2:30 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 2:30 to 9 p.m. Fridays and closed Saturday and Sunday. Gym time is from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Monday and Thursday and swim time is from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The Teen Center has a game room consisting of three pool tables, two fooseball tables, air hockey, ping-pong, board games and a play station. The concession area is always open and there is a computer station for work and play.
Big screen TV, a VCR, a stereo system, teen cafe and a meeting area for teen clubs round out the opportunities available to area youth.

LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Widow Fellowship will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. A potluck lunch will be held at noon. All interested widows in the area are invited.
Dance recital
AUBURN – Starz Unlimited Dance Studio will host its first annual home school dance recital at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 2, at the First Universalist Church, 169 Pleasant St. The event is free and open to the public.

Fortier chapter
LEWISTON – Dr. Paul Fortier Chapter, ACA, will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, June 2, at the Multi-Purpose Center. Committees will be formed and summer events will be announced. Members are urged to attend. Durham speaker
DURHAM – The Durham Historical Society will host a free meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at the Old Town Hall, Route 136. The program will include a signing presentation of the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner.
Robert Wolfenden, a long time resident of Durham, will give a brief, informal presentation describing the history of Baxter School for the Deaf and Mackworth Island.
In addition, Wolfenden will share his skills and knowledge of sign language and teach participants some common signs and some of the symbolism behind them. Active audience participation is encouraged. Each person will be encouraged to develop his or her own name sign.
Wolfenden is a recently retired teacher with more than 25 years of experience. Most of those 25 years were spent teaching drivers’ education and technology education to children who are deaf or hard of hearing. He graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 1975. A New Jersey native, he has lived in Maine since 1969.
The Old Town Hall is located at Southwest Bend on Royalsborough Road. Refreshments will be served after the program. The public is invited.
Seniors to elect
AUBURN – First Auburn Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Hasty Community Center. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m.
Tickets will be on sale for the June 18 Italian sandwich luncheon and pot of gold. Raffle tickets will also be available. Following the bag lunch, election of officers will take place and bingo will be played.
On May 21 attendance prize winners were Beverly Lashua and Frances Wentworth. Maxine Sidelinger, Shirley Montgomery and Gaetane David won the pot of gold. Trip Chairwoman Joyce Poole announced the following trips: Fairpoint, Aug. 4; Bermuda cruise, Aug. 10; Wentworth by the Sea Hotel, Sept. 2; the Balsams, Oct. 13; mystery tour, Oct. 26 to 29; and Radio Daze in Randolph, Mass., Nov. 11.
Corresponding secretary Lucy Cowles conducted a memorial service for members who died in 2002-2003. She was assisted by Chaplain M.E. Allen, Joyce Poole, Caroline Chapman, Doris Michael and Virginia Gagne, soloist.

LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the Slovak Association meeting room, Avery Street. The agenda will include installation of officers. It will be the last regular meeting until September.
