PARIS – The First Baptist Church of Paris Hill has decided to cancel coffee fellowship hour after the 9:30 a.m. worship services during June, July and August.
Church speaker
PARIS – Marilyn Hammond will be the speaker at the 10 a.m. service of the First Universalist Church Sunday, June 1. Her sermon topic will be “Celebrating Flowers and Children.” This will be the annual flower communion service. Each person is to bring a flower or sprig of green, either from their garden, field or roadside to contribute to the “communion vase” as a symbol of his or her individual humanity. In addition, it will be Children’s Recognition Sunday and Jane Wheeler will be presenting Sunday School awards. The service will be followed by brunch in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.
Nature outing

Society program
FRYEBURG – The Fryeburg Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at the American Legion Hall on Bradley Street. The topic will be the Maine Historical Society’s “Maine Memory Network” by Frances Pollitt.

Book signing
WEST PARIS – Dorothy Hinshaw of Sumner, a retired librarian, will be at the Arthur L. Mann Library from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 6, to sign her book titled “When I was Young in Indiana.” Hinshaw says she wrote the book about Indiana farm life for her grandchildren, but was encouraged to have it published.
The library will hold open house from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, for anyone interested in checking out the castle-type architecture and to see the plot plan for the addition.

Senior luncheon
WEST PARIS – The West Paris Senior Citizens luncheon and meeting will be held at noon Tuesday, June 10, at the home of Clara and Shirl Wilson on Route 26.
Retired teachers
PARIS – The Oxford County Retired Teachers Association will meet Friday, June 13, at the First Congregational Church vestry in South Paris. The meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. with a used book sale for the benefit of the scholarship fund. President Marilyn Leighton will lead the meeting at which time officers will be installed. Jean Boyd will be the new president, Rodney Abbott will be vice president, Gloria Sawyer will stay as secretary and Helene Decker remains as treasurer.

HEBRON – The annual meeting and re-organizational meeting of the Hebron Historical Society will be held at 2 p.m. June 15, at the Moody Library. The public is invited.

OXFORD – Psallomen, a musical ensemble from Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, Pa., will present a concert at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at the Oxford Advent Christian Church, 1130 Main St. The public is invited.
Bridge results
NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge met at their new location, Fare Share Commons, on May 23 with five full tables.
Pete Cummings and Richard Allen captured first place; Paul Barber and Eric Sahlberg, second; Mike Quinn and Don Johnson, third; and Bob and Sue Crane, fourth place.

Party helps church
HARTFORD – The Hartford Community Church hosted its fifth annual tea party and fund-raiser recently to support the church’s Sunday school program.
Each year two weeks before Mother’s Day, invitations are sent to past participants inviting them to attend the tea party at a cost of $2.
