RUMFORD – This year’s dramatic production from Debbie’s Ecole de Danse is an original musical stage production, “Blizzards of Snow Dust.”

Written and directed by Thea Dunn, the play features choreography from Debbie Murphy, and several of her present and former dance students. Set in New York City and a small western Texas town, the audience will witness a talent search held by wacky representatives of a famous entertainment corporation looking for the “next new thing.” The eventful search results in a competition between a sleek and sassy Hip-Hop group, the Snow Blizzards, and a rough-and-tumble western line dancing troupe, the Snow Dusters, who are intent on saving their ranch, The Snow Cactus Corral, from repossession.

The 24-person cast consists of actors from the Rumford/Mexico/Dixfield/Bethel communities.

The recital will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 30, and Saturday, May 31, in the Muskie Auditorium of Mountain Valley High School. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for students. Children 10 and under, free admission.

A weeklong Hip Hop dance clinic for interested dance students age 9 to 14, instructed by Debbie Murphy and Jade Dunn, will be held at Debbie’s dance studio, beginning the week of June 16. The class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday through Friday. Registration forms will be available at the show.
