• Essentials of College Planning, 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 19. This workshop includes requesting admission material and financial aid from prospective colleges.

Palestinian issue

FARMINGTON – To explore the background and the anger felt by people of Israel and the displaced Palestinians, a film, “Palestine is Still the Issue,” will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5, in Lincoln Auditorium, Room C131, of Roberts Hall at the University of Maine at Farmington.

A discussion will follow the film. All are welcome to attend.

Fiddling concert

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Fiddlers will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at the North Dining Room of Olsen Student Center at the University of Maine at Farmington.

The fiddlers are directed by Steve Muise. The concert is free.

Auxiliary meeting

FARMINGTON – The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of World War I will hold the Maine Department Meeting on Friday, June 6, in the Deer Crossing dining area. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and will be followed by the meeting, a potluck dinner and entertainment.

Temple’s big sale

TEMPLE – The Temple community yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 7. Participants may sell wares at the Town Hall or at their individual homes. Residents who wish to have their yard sales included on a list may call Belle Foss at 778-3173.

Fairbanks funds

FARMINGTON – A fund-raiser for the Fairbanks School Meetinghouse will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the site of the former Fairbanks School on Route 4. A yard sale, garden items and plants will be available. The rain date for the event is Sunday, June 8.

Parade plans

FARMINGTON – The Farmington-Rotary Club is looking for participants for the Farmington Fourth of July parade. This year’s theme is “America the Beautiful.” Categories include agriculture, business, group (mixed/youth/adult), individual, such as antique cars, and judges’ choice. Judging of floats will occur between 8 and 9:30 a.m. behind Mallett School. The parade begins at 10 a.m. sharp. Prizes will be awarded in each category.
