RUMFORD – Investigations continue into four reported thefts or burglaries over the past week.

Officer Mark Cayer is investigating the theft of a Husqvarna lawn tractor that was reportedly taken from Randy’s Repair Service on Route 108 sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The tractor, which was found dumped in a ditch about a half mile from the shop, was recovered by its owner, Sgt. Tracey Higley said.

Cayer is also investigating the burglary and theft of three tool boxes from a Route 2 resident’s garage. The tool boxes, worth a total of $190, were stolen between Wednesday and Thursday, Higley added.

A 1989 Ford Tempo reported stolen from a Maine Avenue resident at 10:50 a.m. Friday has been recovered undamaged, Higley said. Officer Peter Casey is investigating.

Family members are possible suspects in the burglary and theft of $1,000 cash from a Blanchard Street residence, police said. The case is being investigated by officer James Bernard, Higley said.

According to the victim, who called police at 2:51 p.m. Wednesday, the money was kept in an envelope in a bedroom. Bernard is looking into the victim’s complaint that a relative may have taken the money, Higley added.
