Franklin Memorial Hospital expects to reopen the shop in a larger space in three or four weeks.

FARMINGTON – Construction on the final phases of Franklin Memorial Hospital’s renovation and expansion project has temporarily closed the hospital’s gift shop for approximately three to four weeks.

“The new gift shop will be located closer to the main entrance and will be nearly three times larger,” said Don Garrison, the hospital’s chief of facilities management. “The new space will feature glass doors and walls enabling passersby to see what’s inside.”

The gift shop has offered patients, staff and visitors a wide selection of gifts like new baby presents, balloons, seasonal items, Beanie Babies, candy and floral arrangements.

When the gift shop reopens, an expanded inventory of clothing, books, jewelry, magazines and more will be available. It will have a new 450-square-foot area and improved storage.

The gift shop is operated by the Hospital Auxiliary as a fund-raising source for the hospital. Approximately $25,000 in proceeds go to the hospital each year.

The two-year hospital construction project has included new family birthing and pediatric units, and an oncology area, which opened last fall. The new ambulatory surgical center will open soon and the education center is expected to be completed in early July.
