FAYETTE – At a recent meeting of the Fayette Board of Selectmen, State Sen. Ken Blais made a presentation to the Central Maine Pre-Release Center on behalf of Fayette.

Rick Charest, program director, and Phat Tran, trades instructor, received a legislative resolution and an engraved plaque to recognize the contributions that their program has made to the community.

Over the past two years, Tran and his crews have spent more than 1,200 hours painting the exterior and re-finishing the upstairs floor of Starling Hall, painting the outside of the Town Garage and the Town Office, constructing a small sand shed and cutting brush along town roads. The only cost to Fayette was for paint and materials.

“This program saved the town about $15,000,” said Town Manager Jim Collins. “It also enabled us to complete projects that otherwise would still be undone.”

During this summer, members of the program will continue painting the inside of Starling Hall.
