FARMINGTON – There will be an informational meeting for parents of interested pee-wee hockey players age 11-12 on Thursday night, June 5 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Cascade Brook Elementary School in Farmington, just behind the new middle school on Middle Street. All parents and players are encouraged to attend. Parents of younger children are welcome also, as there are plans under way to extend this hockey initiative to a squirt or mite team.

Fairbanks funds
FARMINGTON – A fund-raiser for the Fairbanks School Meetinghouse will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the site of the former Fairbanks School on Route 4. A yard sale, garden items and plants will be available. The rain date for the event is Sunday, June 8.
Temple’s big sale
TEMPLE – The Temple community yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 7. Participants may sell wares at the Town Hall or at their individual homes. Residents who wish to have their yard sales included on a list may call Belle Foss at 778-3173.
Historical Society
FARMINGTON – The Farmington Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street. The evening will begin with a potluck supper, as usual, followed by the annual business meeting and a program at 7 p.m.
Marjorie Goodwin will speak on the topic, Stanwood Park – The Largest Zoo in Maine from the mid 1920s to the early 1940s. Guests and new members are welcome to attend.
Candidates’ night
FAYETTE – Fayette will have a candidates’ night starting at 6 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Starling Hall prior to the scheduled Board of Selectmen’s meeting.
Two candidates, Thomas Welch and Marty Rigoulot, are running for one open three-year seat on the Board of Selectmen. Tina Mitchell is running for the only open seat on the School Committee, a three-year term. Mary Englehardt chose not to seek re-election.
Pulp, Paper Museum
RUMFORD – There will be a Pulp and Paper Museum meeting starting at 5:30 p.m. June 12 in the basement of the Rumford Library located at 58 Rumford Avenue. Refreshments will be served and an update on the progress of the museum will be shared.
