LEWISTON – Ste. Croix Regional Federal Credit Union has won a first-place award in the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Recognition Award Program for credit unions. The program, sponsored by the Maine Credit Union League and CUNA and Affiliates, honors credit unions for their involvement in community projects and activities.
Ste. Croix’s program was “Books for Schools.” The credit union, which serves all of Androscoggin County, initiated the program in 2002 by donating books to every public elementary school library in the county. In 2003, Ste. Croix continued its program by donating books to all Androscoggin County public middle and high schools.
Ste. Croix’s entry will advance to the national competition in November, where it will compete with other projects from credit unions in the same asset category nationwide.
