The Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger, which has raised more than $1.32 million since 1990, raises donations to help end hunger in Maine through fund-raisers held by its member credit unions.
“Last fall, more than three fourths of the employees at Otis Federal Credit Union planned and hosted a public supper as part of the Ending Hunger campaign. The supper was very successful and raised over $1,500, funds which went to Tri-Town Ministerial Association, Wilton Area Food Pantry and The Food Closet,” noted Ryan Souther, marketing director at Otis FCU.
Other 2002 fund-raisers for the Campaign for Ending Hunger conducted by Otis FCU employees, include the sale of candles, air fresheners, candy bars and ornaments. “Those sales raised $1,130.75 for the 2002 Maine Credit Union League Ending Hunger Campaign,” said Souther. “Our employees and members are generous in time, spirit, and donations.”
Looking toward future fund-raisers for the Ending Hunger campaign, Souther stated that Otis FCU employees will continue sales of candles, air fresheners, ornaments, baskets and more.
“Plus, our committee is working with AMVETS to plan a Basket Bingo to be held this fall in October.” Souther added, “Otis FCU also has a payroll deduction plan, which is new for 2003, that will raise more than $500 by the middle of November with employees and members making weekly or monthly donations.”
