AUBURN – Greater Androscoggin Humane Society board president Barbara Livingston announces that James Bouquet and Linda Rogers have been elected to serve on the board of directors.

Bouquet, a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in civil engineering, has resided in Maine for more than 25 years. He is a registered professional engineer and a founder and vice president of Summit Environmental Consultants Inc./Summit Geoengineering Services of Lewiston, Augusta and Bangor. In addition to serving on the Humane Society board, Bouquet also serves as a board member of the Lewiston Development Corp. He lives in Auburn with his wife, Catherine, and their two springer spaniels.

Rogers, born in England, graduated from Manchester Business College and moved to the United States in 1974. She was a sales executive for Gannett Newspapers Inc. and was later employed as a public relations executive for Fullfillment Systems Inc., working throughout the East Coast. Rogers lives in Auburn with her husband, Bernard, and their dog and cat.

“These fine people bring important expertise to the board,” said Livingston, “as well as a true commitment to animal welfare. We are confident they will contribute greatly to the organization and to the communities we serve.”

The society provides a safe haven for approximately 3,600 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area a year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fund-raising events and donations of concerned citizens. The shelter gives back through community services, including animal intake and adoption, animal health services, reuniting people with lost animals, humane education and working with individuals who are disadvantaged or developmentally disabled.

If interested in learning more about the plans for a new shelter, call Steven Dostie, shelter director, at 786-4713. Anyone interested in volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal can visit the shelter at 420 Poland Spring Road or visit the Web site at www.gahumane.org.
