1927 – 2003

LEWISTON — Emmett DuBois Dashiell Sr., 76, of Auburn, passed on to glory Monday, July 7, at Central Maine Medical Center, after battling a short illness.

He was born and educated in Wetipquin, Md. After growing up on the Dashiell Acres Family Farm, he went on to further his education at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and Boston University.

He owned and operated several successful businesses and real estate ventures. For over 20 years, he was employed by Pioneer Plastics as an excellent and dedicated truck driver. After such time, he volunteered as a transportation engineer of Community Concepts, owned his own business as a notary public and justice of the peace.

He held a seat on the board of directors with his local Auburn Church of the Nazarene and was involved in several areas of volunteer work, as well as served on the advisory boards of Bates College and the Auburn Police Department.

Survivors include his wife, Leola Virginia Dashiell; nine children; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles J. Dashiell Jr.
