There are several misconceptions about the your editorial that I take issue with (July 15).
• Congress voted and gave President Bush the power to use force in Iraq several months before the president made his State of the Union speech.
• It has not been disproved that Iraq was seeking nuclear material. Our allies in England claim that it has been documented and still hold that statement to be true.
• Much of our information from the CIA and it’s counterparts is secret, clandestine and subject to many differing interpretations. It’s the nature of the beast.
• Al-Qaida is now claiming responsibility for killing Americans in Iraq. Terrorist training camps have been uncovered in Iraq. There is a connection.
I trust President Bush. Do we want the terrorists here on our soil? More of Sept.11?
Even the Democrats voted for war with Iraq. Congress already held hearings.
The only difference between then and now is the upcoming election. And we all know that the Democrats are getting in gear for one of their massive smear campaigns. All this posturing about 16 words in the State of the Union speech is nothing but politics and Democrats trying to vilify a president who is doing a superb job. I, for one, feel a lot safer knowing President Bush is in the Oval Office.
