I am writing in response to a letter printed July 23 in regard to the rights of elderly drivers. I am 26 years old and had my license suspended for roughly a year due to an uncontrolled medical condition.

Although this was frustrating and difficult, I understood that it was necessary to ensure my safety and the safety of other drivers.

I feel that it does take away one’s independence to have a revoked license, but we must think past our own wants in this case. Just as I had to prove my competency behind the wheel, so should anyone who may put others at risk whether they be 19 or 90.
