MECHANIC FALLS – For the third year in a row, Mechanic Falls has captured the championship of the Oxford Hills Girls Summer Softball League, finishing 13-0.
McFalls edged Paris-Oxford 3-2 in an 8-inning thriller Saturday at Pizmo Beach to claim the title. Kayla Bickford came through with the game-winning RBI in the last of the 8th.
Winning pitcher Nicole Lovejoy aided her cause with an RBI double. Kat Vincent drilled 2 hits and scored 3 times. Tough-luck losing hurler Randy Arsenault had an RBI double.
Umps meet tonight
LEWISTON – A discussion of the upcoming Memorial Softball Tournament is on the agenda as the Andy Valley Softball Umpires’ Association meets tonight at 8 o’clock at the Multi-Purpose Center.
The Memorial Tournament, postponed earlier this summer, is scheduled for August 15-17 in Lewiston-Auburn.
