LEWISTON – The team of Reggie Poussard-Paul Pepin earned the title in the Lewiston Elks Pool League this week. Second was the combination of Bob Sherburne-Ray Pinette, followed by Mike Ouellette-Ray Gagnon.
Soccer tryouts slated
CUMBERLAND – Southern Maine Premier Girls Soccer Team will be conducting open tryouts Sunday, August 16 from 4-7 p.m. at Twin Brooks Recreation Center in Cumberland. Tryouts will be for the U-15 squad, 3-time state champ, and the new U-14 team. Players should bring a birth certificate, water and a $15 tryout fee. FLY to issue gear
LEWISTON -Football League for Youth (FLY) will be issuing grid equipment for the upcoming season, Saturday, August 9 at Montello School track.
Players are asked to report 15 minutes prior to their assigned fitting time. Following are the time slots: 8:30, Senior Lions; 9:00, Junior Lions; 9:30, Senior Steelers; 10:00, Junior Steelers; 10:30, Senior Giants; 11:00, Junior Giants; 11:30, Senior Redskins; 12 noon, Junior Redskins.
FLY football and cheering is open to all youth between the ages of 6-13. Those interested in registering need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Cost for 1 child is $50, and $25 for each additional child, or a maximum of $100 per family.

OHMS football callout
SOUTH PARIS – All incoming seventh-eighth-grade boys interested in playing football this fall at Oxford Hills Middle School are asked to report to the middle school health office, Friday, August 15 between the hours of 12:30-3:00 to be cleared by the school nurse. Seventh-grade players need to bring a copy of their most recent physical.
Equipment will be issued at the high school, Sunday, August 17 between 5-7 p.m. More information can be obtained by calling 743-6976.
