Gregory K. Turner also allegedly attempted

to give the girl crack cocaine.

WATERFORD – Oxford County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a 40-year-old Waterford man Saturday on a charge that he gave marijuana to a 16-year-old baby-sitter.

Gregory K. Turner was also charged with attempting to give crack cocaine to the teen and with aggravated furnishing crack cocaine and marijuana, Capt. James P. Miclon said.

Miclon said the girl reported she was hired to baby-sit Turner’s 10-year-old daughter and when she got to his home on Friday evening, the child was asleep.

“At some point he offered her crack cocaine, but she refused,” Miclon said. “Then at some point he gave her a bag of marijuana.”

Miclon said the teen became concerned with the way the conversation was going between her and Turner and so she woke up the 10-year-old and wanted a ride home, insisting that the young girl ride with them.

The Sheriff’s Department received the call concerning the incident at 10 p.m. Friday, interviewed the teen and was given the drug Turner allegedly gave her.

After a call to Assistant District Attorney Richard Beauchesne, Miclon said he put together a search warrant and at 7:30 a.m. Saturday went to Turner’s house on Waterford Road with several deputies and two agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

“We obtained evidence that corroborated the teen’s story,” Miclon said. “The charges were aggravated because of her age.”

Turner’s bail was set at $1,500 unsecured.

The cocaine charge is punishable by up to 10 years in jail and the marijuana charge is punishable by up to five years in jail.
