RUMFORD – Stash of Cash chances are being sold at area businesses and the chamber office to benefit the River Valley Chamber of Commerce. There are 30 chances to win $100 a day during the month of November for the cost of $5 a ticket. All proceeds will benefit River Valley Chamber of Commerce. Historical society meeting planned

MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the museum, 3 Oxford St. A cookout will be held on the lawn. New members are welcome. Students’ sports meeting slated

MEXICO – There will be call-outs for the following sports at Mountain Valley Middle School: soccer (boys and girls) Aug. 27 at 2:45 p.m.; and field hockey Aug. 27 at 2:45 p.m. A copy of a current physical exam and a permission slip must be turned in to the office before students try out for any Middle School sport. Dirigo High School to host car show

DIXFIELD – The junior class at Dirigo High School is sponsoring Dirigo’s 13th annual Car Show from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, with awards presented at 1:30 p.m. Because of work being done at Harlow Park, this year the event will be held on the soccer field in Peru. DJ Unkomen will be performing. The classes will be: antiques, sport compact, motorcycles and four-wheelers, 4×4 and 2×4 trucks, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s-up and special interest.
