As a citizen of Auburn, I want to thank the Auburn Police Department for having the courage to arrest Normand Guay in his political employment as mayor of Auburn.
I resent having the mayor and Patricia Finnigan, who is employed as the city manager, insinuate corruption on the part of the police department because of labor negotiations.
I am glad the police were not intimidated by his employment position.
It is ridiculous that Auburn citizens and city officials expect police officers to risk their lives on a daily basis for about $22,000 a year with some police officers starting out at less than $10 an hour in some areas. It is time to show our police officers some respect.
As an American with a post traumatic stress disorder disability, I have reason to hold grudges against the Auburn police for doing their job, but I don’t. I know they lack the training to know how to deal with this type of disability.
As Officer Matthew Prince’s mother-in-law, I am proud to have a person with such integrity as a member of my family.
