LEWISTON – Maine PBS will add “Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks” to its kids’ programming lineup beginning at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 13.
“Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks” brings the charm and inspiration of Irish storytelling to American youngsters by following the adventures of Piggley, a spunky 8-year-old pig, and his friends Dannan the Duck and Ferny the Bull on Raloo Farm in Ireland.
Mel Brooks stars as Wiley the Sheep, who offers wild and woolly advice to his all-too-sheepish flock. Soccer great Cobi Jones hosts a live-action epilogue at the end of each episode.
Jones’ “Live and Learn” segment will feature children from diverse cultures and backgrounds sharing real-life anecdotes that complement the moral lesson of Piggley’s exploits.
