Blueberry muffins contest
Entries: Saturday Sept. 13, 9 a.m. to noon
Judging: Saturday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m.
Auction: 2 p.m.
Criteria: Uniformity, overall appearance, taste and texture
Ages – three groups: 5 to 7 year, 8 to 10 years and 11 to 14 years
Rules: Must be a scratch blueberry muffin recipe. Must have 7 muffins on a disposable plate covered with plastic wrap, labeled with child’s name, age, and address.
• Children 5 to 7 years-old: may have adult assistance, with measuring and the baking process.
• Children 8 to 14 years-old: No assistance except with the baking process.
• Child must be accompanied by an adult.
Prizes: (1) $20, (2) $15, (3) $10 and (4) $5
Grandma’s molasses cookie
Entries: Must be in by Wednesday, Sept. 11, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Judging: 5:30 p.m. at Expo One (formally the blue building)
Criteria: Uniformity, overall appearance, taste and texture.
Rules: Contestants must bring 13 cookies on a disposable plate covered with plastic wrap. Must use a scratch cookie recipe. Must use Grandma’s Molasses. Label from jar of molasses must accompany cookies.
• Both adults and children may enter cookies.
• Cookies will be auctioned following contest with proceeds going to the fair.
Prize monies: (1)$25, (2) $20 (3) $15 and (4) $10
