1939 – 2003

LEWISTON – Laurelei Maxine Grover, 64, of Otisfield, died Sunday, Sept. 7, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family, after a long and courageous battle with inflammatory breast cancer.

Born in Lewiston, Feb. 1, 1939, the daughter of James and Maxine Copp Harney of Oxford, she graduated from Oxford High School in 1957.

On March 19, 1960 she married Robert Grover of Oxford. She was a loving wife, mother, “GRAM” and friend. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and send jokes to everyone in her e-mail address book. She was such a kind, warm-hearted person, always thought of others before herself.

She will always be remembered for that.

She was a devoted homemaker and she cherished the moments that she spent with her grandchildren. She was also a great sports fan. The Red Sox and the Patriots were HER teams.

You could sometimes find her with two television sets going and the radio tuned into a ball game as well.

She was a member of the TOPS Group of South Paris and bowled at the Oxford Hills Bowling Lanes for quite a few years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and winters in Florida together.

She loved being with friends, going to dances and having everyone over to their house for coffee and dessert after the dances. She also loved horse racing and was so looking forward to going to the Oxford County Fair this year.

She worked as a ballot clerk for the Town of Otisfield for a number of the years and also worked seasonally at Shop ‘n’ Save.

Survivors include her husband of Otisfield; three children, Corinna and her husband, Darren Morse of Harrison, Gordon Grover and his wife, Sherry of South Paris and Gloria “Maxine” and her husband, Kevin Litchfield of South Paris; four grandchildren, Ryan Grover, Jennifer Grover, Shelby “Maxine” Grover and Andy Morrill; three step-grandchildren, Amanda Foster, Kevin Litchfield, Jr. and Mindy Litchfield; a sister, Dolly Hall of Oxford; and a brother, James (Bub) Harney of Turner and Oxford.

She was predeceased by her parents.
