The coming referendum vote in November is the most important decision that Maine voters will make in their lifetimes. It is vital that every citizen looks beyond all the hype and claims that the slick ads promoting the casino in Sanford are making. These ads do not tell the whole story.
For example, the statement is made, there is no taxpayer money going into the project so why wouldn’t we want it.
Lots of taxpayer money will be required if this project is approved. Millions of dollars will be required to upgrade the roads into and out of Sanford if the project is built. This is taxpayer money. It is federal and state funds that could be used to upgrade roads all over the state. Everyone knows our roads need lots of help. So much for no taxpayer money will go into the project.
In addition a new governmental agency and Gamblers Anonymous will be created and the wages, benefits and infrastructure will all be paid with taxpayer money. There will be other costs involved as well.
Please take time to get all the facts. All that glitters is not gold.
