An increase of
8 hours a week is
to be requested.
WILTON – Selectmen will hear a report from Code Enforcement Officer Brenda Medcoff when they meet Tuesday.
Medcoff plans to present selectmen with a letter signed by Planning Board Chairman Russell Black asking for an increase in Medcoff’s hours. Medcoff also plans to give selectmen a breakdown of her hours.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the town office.
The issue was raised in the past when former Code Enforcement Officer David Giroux held that position. At that time former Town Manager Richard Davis said the code enforcement officer needed to better use his hours rather than have them increased.
Now planners and Medcoff are asking for an increase of 8 hours per week to allow Medcoff time to do many of the duties she does not currently have time for and allow townspeople another day to have access to her. Medcoff currently works 20 hours per week. She said this does not give her enough time to deal with the large number of violations, permits, assisting people with applications, and preparing them for reviews, among other duties.
Selectmen also plan to open bids for wood harvesting operations on the Old Guy Chandler Road. In July Officials met with Forester Peter Tracy to discuss information he collected and recommendations for a harvest management plan for the town owned property on that road. The property consists of about 131 acres of abandoned farmland that grew in to a heavily forested area over the past 100 to 150 years.
Selectmen will also hear a presentation from the Farmington-Wilton-Jay Rail Trail Committee and a quarterly report from Fire Chief Fred Hyde. Town Manager Peter Nielsen will give a report on the possibility of prepayment of town loans. He will also give an update on the town’s search for a recycling trailer.
